talent & Education task force

Throughout the year, we raise awareness of career paths through local school districts, the DIISD Tech Center and Bay College Iron Mountain Campus to grow the talent pipeline for investor businesses.

Working closely with our local businesses, schools, and community partners, we host two annual events that provide high school students with information about available careers.

Healthcare Career Day and Manufacturing Day provide hands-on experiments and simulations to give students an idea of what a day in the life of a manufacturing or healthcare worker might look like. Students are also provided with information about taking classes at the DIISD Tech Center and Bay College to prepare them to enter the workforce right after graduation, as well as dual enrollment and early college opportunities.

Healthcare Career Day

Each February, 10th-grade students from area schools and the homeschool cooperative gather at Bay College Iron Mountain campus to learn from local healthcare providers about the jobs available right here in the Dickinson area.

Manufacturing Day

October is National Manufacturing Month. The first Friday of October, 9th-grade students from area schools and the homeschool cooperative gather at Bay College Iron Mountain campus to learn from local manufacturers about the jobs available right here in the Dickinson area.

Next-Level Careers Skilled Trades Magazine

Each year, we publish a Career & Technical Education magazine for students and parents. Our local schools, through the Dickinson-Iron ISD Tech Center, offer hands-on learning for students throughout high school. In collaboration with Bay College Iron Mountain, they offer dual enrollment and early college programs where students can gain skills and college credit while still in high school.

The purpose of these activities is to SHIFT perceptions about careers in the skilled trades. Learn more about our SHIFT initiative.
